"Sex Therapist," is not an occupation found on most children's list of dreams and aspirations. Once upon a time, Emily wanted to be a teacher, and in some sense, that desire still rings true. She entered college as an Elementary Education major. After a semester of introductory general credits, Emily had second thoughts. She jumped from History, to Psychology, and eventually settled on Gender and Sexuality Studies, with minor concentrations in English and Psychology.

Emily's undergraduate research interests focused on the role that female body image played in shaping sexuality and sexual experiences, specifically the female orgasm.  With those interests still close to heart, she plans to pursue research related to sexually transmitted infections (STIs) in her graduate coursework in hopes of making a positive change in the counseling and public health fields.
